Meet the Goggles Team

Jonathan & Richard are the creative team behind the ‘Goggles’ series of books.

The two artists are long-time friends who live in New Zealand where Peter Jackson made the ‘Lord of The Rings’ movies. (Jonathan’s brother was one of the Hobbits!)

Richard is a successful master painter who teaches painting around the world.

Jonathan has written and illustrated several bestselling picture books. In 2010 while looking for his next ‘big idea’, he saw a video about the famous Wright Brothers, the first humans to fly. So he decided to write a new story about the first BEARS to fly, and ... “Goggles” was born.

Jonathan invited Richard to join him in turning the story into a beautiful and inspiring picture book. Both artists love drawing, painting and picture books. They also flew radio-controlled gliders together, so the collaboration became a joyful experience.

There’s even a little history lesson about the Wright Brothers in the book, with photographs of their first flight at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina in 1903.

A whole series of flying adventures is planned for Goggles and his friend ‘mouse’, his grandparents Growlville & Wilma Wright, and many other enchanting animal friends.
